The Pre-Election Outreach Phase
for the film is over and was - in our opinions - a success. The film screened
in over 45 locations in 14 states wrapping up at the Portland Gay &
Lesbian Film Festival. Eventhough, same-sex marriage took a big kick in
the ass on November 2nd, dialogue, debate, education and outreach needs
to continue.
Carrie & Elisia along with all the couples and families we met along
the ride still have little or no protections. On the federal level, Bush
has pledged to use his "politcal capital" to help pass the Federal
Marriage Amendment. Who knows...in Ohio and Georgia it may be possible
to take adopted children and partner healthcare benefits away from same-sex
couples.
The final version of the film,
Lesbian Grandmothers From Mars, is currently being re-edited
and will premiere sometime in the Summer of 2005. Copies of A Time To
Ride are still available on DVD and VHS. To order click here.

This past summer, married lesbian grandmothers Carrie and Elisia Ross-Stone
rode their bicycles over 3,100 miles across America to
raise awareness and get support for equal civil marriage rights. Through
14 states and over nearly 9 weeks, they received a wide
range of responses – from enthusiastic support to death threats
and hateful protests.
A Time to Ride is an 87 minute film
that is a source of inspiration and awareness for the gay and lesbian
community. More importantly, it is a valuable tool to inform a much
larger general public whose political and social support is vital to gaining
equal civil marriage rights.
Amidst the gay marriage media frenzy and election year politics, A
Time To Ride, documents one American couple's struggle for justice
and equality, highlighting individuals and families they meet from coast
to coast. It illustrates why voting this year is more important than ever.
